Integrating Diverse Reasoning Methods in the BB1 Blackboard Control Architecture
نویسندگان
چکیده
The BBl blackboard control architecture has been proposed to enable systems to integrate diverse reasoning methods to control their own actions. Previous work has shown BBl’s ability to integrate hierarchical planning and opportunistic focusing. We show how it can integrate goal-directed reasoning as well and demonstrate these capabilities in the PROTEAN system. We also compare BBl with alternative control architectures.

High-level architecture for a low-cost embedded vehicle system
New vehicles from the automotive industry include a growing number of progressively more sophisticated embedded systems, including a variety of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs), such as lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. For both reasons of cost and technology, these innovations draw upon limited resources, leading to highly specific, optimized architectures for each ...
متن کاملA blackboard architecture for a hybrid CBR system for scientific software
This paper describes the use of a blackboard architecture for building a hybrid case based reasoning (CBR) system. The Smartfire fire field modelling package has been built using this architecture and includes a CBR component. It allows the integration into the system of qualitative spatial reasoning knowledge from domain experts. The system can be used for the automatic set-up of fire field mo...
متن کاملA Control Model for Distributed Blackboard Architecture Based on Task Structures
Knowledge Based Real-Time Systems for intelligent patient monitoring must present the following characteristics: (a) reactivity and opportunism compatible with goal directed control, (b) domain independent task structures, (c) heterogeneous problemsolving methods, and (d) temporal reasoning. Conventional architectures present these characteristics in a separated way. To build a system that pres...
متن کاملLearning Sequential Control in a Neural Blackboard Architecture for In Situ Concept Reasoning
Simulations are presented and discussed of learning sequential control in a Neural Blackboard Architecture (NBA) for in situ concept-based reasoning. Sequential control is learned in a reservoir network, consisting of columns with neural circuits. This allows the reservoir to control the dynamics of processing by responding to information given by questions and the activations in the NBA. The i...
متن کاملBuilding Real Time Agents Using Parallel Blackboards and Its Use for Mobile Robotics
Vehicle intelligent control is a robotics real time application where elaborated reasoning process and reactive process work together and have to cooperate or more to be interdependent. Multi-agent systems are well suited to such complex systems speci-cation, because of their software engineering, their reasoning capabilities (from a cognitive point of view) or their performances (from a reacti...
